Cross Country Trip

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Just thought I’d let everybody know that I re-posted all of my entries from my cross country trip that happened back in June.

It was this trip that got me started with a blog, so I thought it would be fitting to be on my blog. I dated the entries to when the actually happened (hence, why they are not on the front page). But, they are pretty easy to find. You can either go to the right bar under categories and click Cross Country Trip or you can click on the month of June 2006 under the archive header.

Alternatively, you could click on any of the following links:

Reflections

Monday, June 26th, 2006

I enjoyed this trip immensely. Would I do another trip across country in an RV, probably not. But this experience is invaluable. It is awesome to be able to say that I drove across the country, I touched both oceans, I partied in the country music capital of the world – although that one I’m not too proud of.

Day 11

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

June 25th, 2006

We wake up and it’s time to get all of our stuff together because this is it, we are flying out today. Our flight is at 2:20pm. I’m a little nervous because everybody else was able to print out their boarding pass for their e-ticket, but when I tried, the internet went down. I’m not too worried about it, though, and my fears were put to rest when we got to the airport.

Day 10

June 24th, 2006

We have to turn in the RV today. I’m not sad to see the thing go. Our destination is San Diego, but the RV drop off place is about 20 miles outside of the city. We go by the airport and pick up a rental car which is a pimp white suburban with the works. We then drive both the RV and the suburban to the drop of place, which has apparently closed. We didn’t know where the place was, so we called the renter’s hotline and they told us the address. Well, I guess they hadn’t updated their system yet because when we got there the guy told us that the Cruise America had closed down last week. However, he said that there was another one a few miles away. We found the other place and vigorously cleaned the RV, leaving it in better shape than when we found it (when we got in, only one DC outlet worked, when we returned it, both of them worked).

Day 9

June 23nd, 2006

Today already sucks because I’m up early and we’re leaving Vegas. This trip is supposed to be relatively short, it’s about 250 miles to LA. We leave pretty early so that we can miss traffic in LA. Little did we know, you can’t miss traffic in LA. So what was supposed to be a 4 hour drive took up most of the day.

Day 8

June 22nd, 2006

We are still in Vegas. I wake up and go through the same routine that I did yesterday. Don’t eat breakfast and then go down to the pool. Today the pool was somewhat interesting. If only for the fact that there was, we are convinced, a porn star there. Other than that, the pool was pretty much what you would expect from a pool. The crowd seemed older today, I’m not really sure why that is, or what it means, that’s just the way it was.

Day 7

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

June 21st, 2006

Our first full day in Vegas. After having gone to bed only 4 hours earlier, I wake up at 10am. Needless to say, I’m pretty tired, but for some reason, I can’t stay go back to sleep, I think my body just won’t let me sleep past 1pm EST. The next best thing to sleeping is laying out at the pool. It is almost as relaxing, but there is a much better view, plus you get two birds with one stone, you get the relaxing aspect, plus the shower aspect.

Day 6

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

June 20th, 2006

Today started off poorly. I woke up and I felt hung over. The RV was already moving so I just lay there for a while and wait to actually wake up for real. Eventually the need to relieve myself superseded my need to lie in bed. So I got up and walked the 2 feet to the bathroom. I did my business, but I was apparently not quite done. I felt much better after I threw up, but I still didn’t feel well. This was the start of a very long day. A very very very long day.

Day 5

June 19th, 2006
This entry is not going to be quite as long, I waited too long before I started to write it so I know that I have forgotten a lot of the details, but I’ll do my best, and if it gets too boring, I’ll just start making stuff up.

Day 4

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

June 18th, 2006
I am awoken by the sounds of a violent storm. There’s lightning everywhere, rain is coming down in sheets, and I have the distinct impression that a trailer park is not the best place to be right now. What’s even worse is that Justin is sleeping in a tent outside. He said there was so much water outside, and inside his tent, that there was water ¾ of the way up his inflatable mattress. That’s a lot of water. But I fall back asleep and don’t wake up until about 9am.
