What was I Thinking?

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

I a classic case of “what was I thinking” I did something today kind of silly. I registered for the LSAT. That in and of itself is not silly. I might want to go to law school (although I haven’t decided by any means), and if decide I do want to go, I will have to take the LSAT, and it would be kind of silly to start making plans to go to law when I don’t even know if I could get in (I need a pretty strong LSAT score since my final GPA for Mason was about a 3.1).The reason it is silly to sign up for the LSAT, which is on September 30th, and costs $118, is because my stress plate is already filled up to the brim. And that, my friends, is mixing two analogies that don’t mix. Regardless of my analogies, I have a lot of stressful things going on right now. For instance, I don’t know where I’ll be living on September 30th. I’m looking for a job, I might move, money is not exactly flowing like I would like it to, and I’ve been working an awful lot.

The State of Me

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

So, it’s been a couple of weeks since my last entry. Oddly enough, nothing has really changed. I still don’t have a job, I still don’t have a place to live, and I still don’t have cancer. (That is not really meant to be understood unless you are Annelise - basically, she commented on how she didn’t think that my life could be any more stressful right now, and I told her that I could have just been diagnosed with cancer). I kind of silver lining I suppose. The idea that I will be homeless soon as still not hit me. I don’t feel stressed, which is probably a bad thing - it means that I’m not actually facing reality, I’m just ignoring it, and that can get me in trouble when I have to figure out what exactly I am going to do. I do have a couple of interviews that I am excited about, well kinda.

Street Living

In case you didn’t know, I graduated in May of 2006. My lease expired on the 2nd of the month, so Jeff and I had to extend our lease by one month, which cost us an extra $400. I love pissing money away, but we couldn’t really do anything else. After our lease was up, I didn’t have a real job, and I didn’t want to get a new place, because I didn’t know where my job would lead me, and it would suck to be stuck in an area for a year if I got a job somewhere else.So I did what most college kids do, and I moved in with my dad. His apartment is awesome, I must say, it’s right off the metro in downtown DC, in the GW campus area. Foggy Bottom is the name of the area, walking distance from Georgetown. It’s kind of a hassle to get to work, but it’s manageable, it’s about a 45 minute commute or so on the metro and then driving the rest of the way.
