HOV

As you might know, I am currently looking for a job (if you’re reading this, and you’re hiring, let me know. Hell, even if you’re not reading this and you’re hiring, let me know!) And in the process of looking for jobs, one occasionally gets called in for an interview. I had one such experience as of late. I responded to a posting on monster.com for a “program assistant” position. I read the description and wondered why they didn’t just call it an administrative assistant position, because that’s what it is.So I did the online application thing and lo and behold a few days later, I got a call. I spoke to Patricia, who was very nice; as all recruiters are (it is their job, after all). We played phone tag for a few days until we finally got a hold of one another. After a few brief qualifying questions to make sure we were on the same page in terms of what the job was (i.e. an entry level position where it is assumed that you will move onto other aspects of the company after a year or two of learning the system) we set up an interview.

Moving Day

For some reason, none of my life seems to be a simple story when it comes to my family, and this event is no exception, it requires a little background before it will make sense. I’ll try to keep it brief. My dad has an apartment in DC, which I am currently staying at. He has an office that’s about 3 blocks away that he rides his bike to Monday through Thursday. On Friday he drives 4 and a half hours up to Pennsylvania where he had another office, but also where his wife Belle lives with her son Cale. My dad did this every week. He finally convinced Belle to move down to the DC area, I’m not sure of the timing, but I think that she may have not agreed to come down until Cale got accepted to GW (she’s pretty attached to Cale). Now, this works out reasonably well for me because once my dad moves out of the apartment, it will be all mine - for the next month, until the lease is up, anyway.

Running in Circles

Recently I have felt very lethargic. Not so much because of anything in particular, I just noticed that on my days off I was staying inside an awful lot. When you live in a basement apartment, it seems like nighttime all the time. So on the few occasions I did go outside, I was always surprised that it was so sunny and warm out. And then I felt really bad for spending so much time inside. Then I realized that I had eaten fast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for almost the past month straight. I was a little disgusted with myself. Junk food and no exercise for a month is not a good thing. The funny thing was that I didn’t feel that bad. I mean, I noticed that I was getting a little out of shape, nothing major, but nothing that I would want for bathing suit season either. So I decided to make a change.

Hangin’ with old College Chums

I get off of work around 10:30 and I’m pumped. I was supposed to be off at 5:30, but this could work out better. Sure, it’s an extra 5 hours to my shift, but I’m supposed to go to a house party, and who goes to a house party at 5:30pm. Leaving from work at 10″30 would bode much better. So even though my 7 hour shift turned into a 12 hour shift, I saw the silver lining. The party is supposed to be at Jessie and Amy’s place. Around 9″30 or so I send a txt to Jessie. What’s up with the party, I ask. She informs me that they are going to Georgetown. Well, that’s convenient for me, I suppose, I live within walking distance of G’town. I call Jessie after I get off of work and she confirms what the text message says. No invite over to her place, although I wouldn’t really expect it, it wouldn’t really be worth it for me. So I ride the metro into DC like I normally do. This ride is a little bit different though. This time, around 11pm, there are a lot of people on the metro. A lot of people going are to DC. A lot of hot girls. So I sit and listen to my mp3 player like I normally do, but I at least have some eye candy this time. I’m tempted to bust out the new camera that I got, but I know that would be creepy as hell, so I refrain.
