I enjoyed this trip immensely. Would I do another trip across country in an RV, probably not. But this experience is invaluable. It is awesome to be able to say that I drove across the country, I touched both oceans, I partied in the country music capital of the world – although that one I’m not too proud of.

We wake up and it’s time to get all of our stuff together because this is it, we are flying out today. Our flight is at 2:20pm. I’m a little nervous because everybody else was able to print out their boarding pass for their e-ticket, but when I tried, the internet went down. I’m not too worried about it, though, and my fears were put to rest when we got to the airport.

We have to turn in the RV today. I’m not sad to see the thing go. Our destination is San Diego, but the RV drop off place is about 20 miles outside of the city. We go by the airport and pick up a rental car which is a pimp white suburban with the works. We then drive both the RV and the suburban to the drop of place, which has apparently closed. We didn’t know where the place was, so we called the renter’s hotline and they told us the address. Well, I guess they hadn’t updated their system yet because when we got there the guy told us that the Cruise America had closed down last week. However, he said that there was another one a few miles away. We found the other place and vigorously cleaned the RV, leaving it in better shape than when we found it (when we got in, only one DC outlet worked, when we returned it, both of them worked).

Today already sucks because I’m up early and we’re leaving Vegas. This trip is supposed to be relatively short, it’s about 250 miles to LA. We leave pretty early so that we can miss traffic in LA. Little did we know, you can’t miss traffic in LA. So what was supposed to be a 4 hour drive took up most of the day.

We are still in Vegas. I wake up and go through the same routine that I did yesterday. Don’t eat breakfast and then go down to the pool. Today the pool was somewhat interesting. If only for the fact that there was, we are convinced, a porn star there. Other than that, the pool was pretty much what you would expect from a pool. The crowd seemed older today, I’m not really sure why that is, or what it means, that’s just the way it was.
There is a website called Violent Acres that is running a contest. The contest is simple, create a catch phrase for her banner. The prize is even simpler, a link to your site and eternal fame, in your own mind, at least. Well, here’s my entry, borrowed from a friend that knows it all too well.
Life is hard, but it’s even harder if you’re stupid.

Our first full day in Vegas. After having gone to bed only 4 hours earlier, I wake up at 10am. Needless to say, I’m pretty tired, but for some reason, I can’t stay go back to sleep, I think my body just won’t let me sleep past 1pm EST. The next best thing to sleeping is laying out at the pool. It is almost as relaxing, but there is a much better view, plus you get two birds with one stone, you get the relaxing aspect, plus the shower aspect.

Today started off poorly. I woke up and I felt hung over. The RV was already moving so I just lay there for a while and wait to actually wake up for real. Eventually the need to relieve myself superseded my need to lie in bed. So I got up and walked the 2 feet to the bathroom. I did my business, but I was apparently not quite done. I felt much better after I threw up, but I still didn’t feel well. This was the start of a very long day. A very very very long day.
